    A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver vase with military interest (Durham Light Infantry); an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver vase has a tapering cylindrical form to a domed circular spreading foot. The upper and lower portions of the body of the vase are embellished with embossed and chased stylized scrolling leaf and bead decoration in a swirl design. The body is further ornamented with a band of six cartouches amidst a shaped border accented with a leaf motif between each; four of the cartouches remain vacant. To one side there is a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of the Durham Light Infantry amidst the inscription ‘Presented to Officers, 3rd Bn, The Durham Light Infantry’, with the presentation inscription ‘Officers Race, won by, Lieut H J Sowerby, 1887’ to the other side. The upper rim of this impressive vase is encircled with an applied moulded border to the rim. The vase retains the original gilt interior. In 1758 General John Lambton of County Durham first raised the 68th Regiment of Foot as part of the British Army.     An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver combination scent bottle / pill box / vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / pill box / scent bottle has an oval barrel shaped form. The body of the vessel is embellished with applied plain broad girdles replicating the details of the bilge and quarter hoops, which provide anchor points for the original link chain. The piece retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover to the scent bottle, conjoined to one of the aforementioned anchor points with a link chain. One end of the vessel is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which when opened reveals the vinaigrette with the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated bordered scroll and leaf design. The hallmarked hinged cover to the opposing end forms a pill box and opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions.
