About the Item

Veyrat French sterling silver dinner knife set of 12 pieces with box neoclassical. Head of Minerve first titre on the handles for 950/1000 French sterling silver guarantee. Twelve pieces of truly exceptional quality, for the richness of their decoration, their form and sculpting. Handles are adorned with Neoclassical decoration: ribbons, flowers and foliage on each side. The blades are engraved: Lemarchand - Rennes. The manufacturer's mark is affixed to the box with: silversmith, jeweler. No monogrammed. The set is presented in its original box. Prestigious silversmith: Gustave Veyrat. 7 rue du Perche, Paris. They exhibited and received prizes in almost all the national and international exhibitions. Starting with a bronze medal at the Exposition d'industrie francaise in 1827 for their Fine cutlery: they also won awards in 1834, 1839, 1844, 1849, 1853, 1855, 1861, 1863, 1867, and in 1878 in Paris when Veyrat Père was a member of the jury for silverware. The Maison Veyrat was succeeded by Victor Boivin in the early 20th century. Measures: 9”8 (25 cm). Weight: 693 grams. Total weight with box: 1160 grams. The condition is very good. Micro-scratches from normal use. A master silversmith made a complete cleaning and polishing.
