Victorian Sterling Silver Combination Sandwich Box and Flask

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver combination scent bottle / pill box / vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / pill box / scent bottle has an oval barrel shaped form. The body of the vessel is embellished with applied plain broad girdles replicating the details of the bilge and quarter hoops, which provide anchor points for the original link chain. The piece retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover to the scent bottle, conjoined to one of the aforementioned anchor points with a link chain. One end of the vessel is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which when opened reveals the vinaigrette with the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated bordered scroll and leaf design. The hallmarked hinged cover to the opposing end forms a pill box and opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions. This impressive antique flask is fitted with a plain domed hallmarked hinged cover with bayonet fitting. This George V flask retains the original full hallmarked detachable push fit drinking cup which features the original gilt interior, this drinking vessel is a large example for its type. This flask has been tested and is water tight and ready for use. To ensure the flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal. There are two recommended methods to ensure the cork does not dry out and shrink: Method one: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet.
