Viennese Art Nouveau Silver Centerpiece With Original Glass Bowl, Around 1900

About the Item

Elegant silver centerpiece on a round, multi-stepped curved base with four square rocaille feet with putti heads in relief, finely chased shell and floral decoration, baluster-shaped shaft with chased trim and leaf festoons, on the sides, opposite each other, two towering volute brackets with busts of women, screwed onto the top a widely projecting bowl made of original clear glass with finely cut feather leaf tendrils and flowers on the sloping plate rim and elegant spade decoration in the mirror. Hallmarks: Diana's head - Austrian official hallmark 1872 - 1922 for 800 Silver Master's sign 'VCD' - for Vincenz Carl Dub, Silverware production, founded in 1838 Bibliography: Waltraud Neuwirth, Viennese gold and silversmiths and their hallmarks 1867-1922, Lexicon A-K, Vienna 1976, page 158 Total dimensions: highth: 26,7 cm / 10.51 in diameter: 29,0 cm / 11.41 in Very well-maintained condition, silver cleaned and polished, glass undamaged
