Vintage Sterling Silver Wheelbarrow Bon Bon Dish

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver wheelbarrow bon bon dish; an addition to our novelty dining silverware collection This fine vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver bon bon dish has been realistically modelled in the form of a wheelbarrow. The surface of this novelty silver dish is embellished with impressive finely pierced decorated scrolling leaf and floral decoration, accented with engraved decoration. Each flared pierced decorated panel is encompassed with a paralleling, curvilinear plain silver border. The dish is fitted with a detachable push fit hallmarked sterling silver side to the posterior; this component secures to either side via a channelled fitment. The posterior of the wheelbarrow design incorporates two horizontal pales replicating the vessels handles, in addition to two vertical supports allowing the piece to Stand in situ. The plain frame is embellished to the lower portion with further scrolling flourishes, emanating to a functional cast sterling silver wheel. The wheel reflects a floral rosette, comprised from lobed spokes with a solid silver border. The tapering well of this fine example of vintage silverware is plain and unembellished. Condition This vintage novelty silver dish is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The dish has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The pierced decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the well and part hallmarks to the detachable side are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
