About
Exotic sterling silver Turkish coffeepot. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1881. Flat ovoid body with lobed knop, tapering cylindrical neck with twisted fluting and scalloped rim, inset hinged domed cover, s-scroll handle, and vertical s-spout. Honeycomb hand hammering and chased dense and stylized leaves and flowers as well as Classical ornament including palmette cap on handle and stop fluting on spout. Interlaced script monogram engraved on foot underside. A wonderful Aesthetic-era take on a Middle Eastern form. Hallmark includes date letter and code B58. Weight: 22 troy ounces.
