About

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian sterling silver water jug; part of our antique dining silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver jug has a circular rounded shaped form with a cylindrical neck. The neck of this silver water jug is embellished with impressive embossed fluted decoration, flanked with broad bands of reed ornamentation. The bulbous body is ornamented with further embossed graduating convex fluted decoration to the lower portion, accented with embossed and chased decorated foliate festoons suspended from oval floral medallions. The body is further ornamented with a matte textured panel conjoining the aforementioned graduating flutes and festoons. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with a plain rounded handle. This interior of this 1800's sterling silver jug retains the original gilding. Condition This antique English silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The jug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp. Full English hallmarks struck to the underside of the body are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional 1800's sterling silver jug in the UK.
