Karin Björquist - Marmalade Jar - Gustavsberg

About the Item

Product Description: This marmalade jar has been produced by Swedish firm Gustavsberg and designed by Karin Björquist. The piece is part of the Delikatess-series which consists of both jars and cutting boards. The pattern on the cutting board resembles branches of plant bearing red berries (not sure which exact plant). The Delikatess-series includes at least one pattern with a different (blue) pattern on it, the pattern on the item offered here is mos well-known. Karin Björquist, the designer of this piece, helped in bringing to life more joyful utensils that were not only created for their purpose but pleased the eye as well. When still young she painted leaves and plants and had her own herb graden. Later in life she became the first female artistic director at the gustavsberg factory. Although not on offer here we recommend to check out the "Röd Kant" porcelain tableware by Karin Björquist, it is a perfect example of her results with integrating purposefulness and beauty. The jar can be used for holding any substance as long as it's not prone to spoil quickly. Product Condition: The product is in good condition gives its age. At some places the porcelain has a bit of yellow discoloration, the bottom of the jar has some stain as well. On the side of the jar a small scratch is visible, this was most likely created in the production process.
