About the Item

Sipek glassware collection is a work of art, each glass is different; each one is characterized by a personal decoration and a personal colour;each one has its decoration and colour and might differ slightly from the picture's product. Crafted from delicate clear blown glass, it is perfect for any contemporary table setting. Designed by Borek Sipek,he studied interior design at the School for Arts and Crafts in Prague. In 1983 he established his design workshop in Amsterdam, where he started his collaboration with Driade, designing furniture, objects and ideas of suggestive originality. A poet of tradition grafted on the unequivocal restlessness of a modern sensibility, Sipek has thus started systematic explorations in the infinite universes of craftsmanship, testing himself with techniques and materials with ancient roots. By B. Sipek, Driade
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Perigot is a red coral blown glass vase that is characterized by elegant lines with a perfectly symmetrical shape. Borek Sipek (1949-2016) studied interior design at the school for Arts & Crafts in Prague from 1964-1968. He went to Germany to study architecture at the Kunsthochschule in Hamburg. He also studied aesthetics and philosophy. In 1983, he moved to the Netherlands and set up the design office that provided a base for his subsequent explorations of oriental and occidental arts and crafts. His fateful encounter with Driade resulted in furniture and objects. The ideas eventually found their way into the Eidos, Malastrana and Follies Collections. Sipek's systematic revisitations of traditional craft techniques and materials have won several prestigious awards including, the Croix Chevalier Dans L'ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres from the French Government in 1991. In 1993, he won the Prins Bernard Fons Prize for architecture and arts. Sipek has an international reputation as an imaginative and versatile artist. He was appointed Prague castle architect by Czech president, Vaclav Havel. He worked from 1992 to 1996 on architectural detailing and other features of Joze Plecnik...
