Georgian Sterling Silver Cream Jug

About the Item

A fine and impressive large antique George II English sterling silver cream jug; an addition to our Georgian silverware collection. This fine antique George II sterling silver cream jug has a plain pear shaped form. The body of this Georgian silver cream jug is plain and unembellished with a shaped incurved border to the upper rim. This impressive example of antique teaware is fitted with a cast and applied shaped scrolling handle with leaf decorated thumb piece. The jug is supported by three impressive cast and applied ribbed hoof style feet with lobed sockets in junction with the body. The underside of this sterling silver cream jug bears the contemporary engrabved initials 'GTA'. This impressive piece of Georgian silverware is a large example for its type. Condition This antique Georgian silver cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver and exceptional quality for its type. The piece is in excellent condition in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the jug have wear due to their location and in keeping with age, but remain legible; the first portion of the maker's mark is undecipherable. This fine antique George III sterling silver cream jug has an oval shaped form. The surface of the incurved panelled body is plain and embellished with a bright cut engraved oval carotuche to either side, one side bears the contemporary engraved initials' and the other remains vacant.
