18th Century Dutch Delft Dore Chinoiserie Teapot & Cover

About the Item

Dutch Delft Dore Chinoiserie teapot & cover, Early 18th Century. The circular Dutch Delft Dore large teapot is painted in with Chinoiserie scenes within shaped panels bordered with a dark blue and highlighted with gilt flower heads and leaves. One panel with a large building and the other with sailing ships in the background with a small tree in the foreground, all in the Imari coloration. Another two panels around the handle with leaves and flowers. The shaped handle and the spout with leafy vines with flowering plants. The outer edge of the handle and the spout with flowering plants in blue, iron-red and gold. Dimensions: 5 1/2 inches high x 8 1/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches deep Mark: In iron-red a reversed E & R or just an ornate R. Provenance: Paper label for B.F.     Wear consistent with age and use. The condition of the teapot is excellent. The cover has a chip to the edge in one place which barely shows on the outside but does on the underside.
