18th Century Whieldon-type Large Tortoise-shell Teapot and Cover

About the Item

18th Century Whieldon-type Tortoise-shell Teapot and Cover, Circa 1765 The tortoise-shell molded teapot and cover is decorated with a molded design of grapes and leaves issuing from the top of the crabstock handle with traces of the original honey gilding visible. The cover is similarly decorated with a branch form finial with a bunch of grapes on one side and a large leaf on the other issuing from the handle. There are chips to the interior flange and the inner flange of the cover. The tip of the spout has an invisible repair to a chip. Dimensions: 5 inches high x 8 inches wide x 5 inches deep. (Ref: NY10387-aurx)
