About the Item

1948-1951 Bing & Grondahl coffee service for 8, Denmark. In their rare & elegant "Empire" pattern with swags of flowers over fish scale molded borders. Consisting of 8 cups & saucers, 8 cake plates, leaf shaped sweetmeat, round shaped sweetmeat, cream & sugar with tray, and coffee pot with cover & stand. Most with one cancel mark. Creamer has earlier mark. One teacup with minute chip on edge & small area of pre-glaze roughness; one with minute pre-glaze roughness spot; one saucer with minute chip on edge. Pot: 9" h., 7" over handle; Leaf sweetmeat: 9 3/4" x 7 3/8" x 1 3/4"; Round Sweetmeat: 8 1/4" dia. x 1 3/4"; Cake plates: 6"; saucers: 5 1/4"; cups: 1 5/8" over handle, 2 3/8 h.
