This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a shaped pedestal to a plain rounded knop and circular spreading foot. The body of this silver goblet is embellished with an applied cartouche pertaining to the London Athletic Club accented with a uncial-style typeface and incorporating the motto 'Vincit Qui Patitur' - Who Endures, Wins, in addition to. Either side of the goblet features a cast and applied wing, each with ornamentation reproducing the details of the plumage. The upper rim of the vessel is encompassed with an applied moulded border. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver tea service has been modelled in the Queen Anne style. The lower portion of each piece is embellished with embossed batwing decoration. The upper portion of each piece of this silver tea set is plain and unembellished. The teapot is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover embellished with further batwing decoration to the domed portion and is surmounted with the original carved painted wood and sterling silver fluted, cushion shaped finial.
