Blue Willow English Tea Cups, Set of 8
About the Item
A set of eight blue and white transferware ceramic teacups, reminiscent of the Johnson Brothers Ironstone, made by English Ironstone Tableware Ltd of Staffordshire. Shapely cups with loop handles are decorated in the ‘Blue Willow’ pattern which shows a pagoda, the home of Tso Ling, who is pursuing his daughter, Kwang-se, and her lover Chang over the bridge. He was to have them killed when the gods turned them into a pair of turtle doves. Marked EIT England underneath. Dimensions per cup.
