About the Item

Carl Deffner (1856-1946) Art Nouveau Copper Tea Kettle on a Comfort circa 1895-1900, Germany. This Carl Deffner teapot on a conforming stand with a spirit burner, circa 1895-1900 was made during the height of the Art Nouveau era. The pot is adorned on both sides with a cone-shaped thistle decoration in black enamel and copper. The elaborate handle is in a beautiful brass Art Nouveau style as is the intricate stand. It is generally in good used condition with obvious signs of aging and blemishes. There are a few indentations on the equatorial part of the pot. Carl Deffner was born in 1856 Esslingen, Germany. He was known for decorative copper, brass and plated tableware. He took over management of his father's metalware factory in 1900. He was well-known for his many excellent designs during the art nouveau and art deco periods. The factory closed in 1959.
