London & New York is a must for the serious collector of fine silver pieces and highly coveted antiques. This elegant pattern featured in this exquisite set is perfect for fine dining. The following sterling silver pieces are included in this fantastic set: • Coffee Pot: 9 ½” tall, 2 1/4 pint, STERLING 201 – 764.23 grams • Tea Pot: 8 ¼” tall, 1 7/8 pint, STERLING 202 – 675 grams • Sugar Bowl with Lid: 4 ¼” tall STERLING 203 – 388.37 grams • Creamer pitcher: 4 ½” tall, 5/8 pint, STERLING 204 – 215.47 grams • Tray: 10” x 16”(19” incl. handles) – 1418.09 grams • Total weight- 3461.16 grams Each piece is marked with the Gorham marks indicating the pieces circa 1930's, and are also marked STERLING. The entire set weighs an incredible 111.28 troy oz. Excellent pre-owned condition with surface scratches, commensurating with daily wear and tear. History: Gorham Manufacturing Company was founded in Providence, Rhode Island 1831 by Jabez Gorham, a master craftsman, in partnership with Henry L. Webster. The firm's chief product was spoons of coin silver. The exquisite Gorham's Portsmouth line came out in 1918. The White House has used Gorham silver services during many administrations. Mary Todd Lincoln purchased an impressive tea and flatware service for use in the White House in 1859. The tea service was presented to the National Museum of American History in 1957. Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant asked Gorham to commemorate the country's one-hundredth anniversary with a spectacular Century Vase that contained over 2,000 ounces of sterling silver, and a grand "loving cup" composed of 70,000 dimes was designed for Admiral George Dewey in 1899.
