Hot Bertaa Kettle by Philippe Starck, French Design, 1987

About the Item

Hot Bertaa by Philippe Starck, French Design, 1987. The Hot Bertaa kettle, an iconic object designed by the famous French designer Philippe Starck, is now on display in the design collection of MoMA in New York. Its low production makes it a rare object. The long side of this tube is the handle of the kettle, the short side is the spout. The kettle is filled by slowly pouring water through the short end. As it heats up, steam escapes through this opening, providing the illusion of locomotion.
