About the Item

Italian 15-Piece Futurist Tea Service Designed by Nikolay Diulgheroff (1901–1982) and Tullio d'Albisola (1899–1971) for Mazzotti, circa 1935, produced for Torido Mazzotti (1895–1988). This striking tea service features original decoration using oxides and matte glazes. The design incorporates elements from Constructivism, Cubism, and Suprematism, with an alternating two-sided pattern showcasing primary blue and yellow motifs. The vibrant colors and cosmic interpretations make this a vivid example of Italian Futurist ceramic art. This is not just a tea set – it is a testament to timeless design, exquisite craftsmanship, and cultural significance. With its refined aesthetic, rare quality, and historical character, this set is of a caliber more often found in museum collections than in private homes. Every detail, from the delicate curves to the carefully chosen materials, speaks of a bygone era of artistry and elegance. It is a true collector’s piece, ideal for connoisseurs of fine design and decorative arts. Owning this tea set is not only a privilege – it is a way of preserving and honoring design heritage. Set includes: 1 teapot, h 15.8 x w 16.2 cm 1 milk jug, h 10.2 x w 10,2 cm 1 covered sugar bowl, h 9.5 x w 13.5 cm 6 cups H 6.7 x w 10.5 and saucers w 16.5 cm The underside of the teapot is painted with the mark M. G. A. The set is signed as pictured and dates to around 1935. This vintage/antique tea service is in near-original condition, showing only minimal traces of use. About the Designers and Maker: Nikolay Diulgheroff was a Bulgarian-born artist, designer, and architect who became a key figure in Italian Futurism during the interwar period. Born in Kyustendil, Bulgaria, he studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar before settling in Turin, Italy, in 1926. Tullio d'Albisola (born Tullio Mazzotti) was an Italian ceramicist, poet, and artist from Albissola Marina. He was a leading figure in Futurist ceramics, emphasizing innovation and a break from traditional forms. Tullio collaborated with other Futurists and was known for creating the “Litolatta,” tin lithographed books featuring texts by himself and Marinetti, illustrated by Bruno Munari. Torido Mazzotti (1895–1988), Tullio’s older brother, managed the family ceramic factory Giuseppe Mazzotti Manifattura Ceramiche, founded in 1903 in Albissola Marina.
