John Prip for Reed and Barton Dimension Tea And Coffee Set
About the Item
A 1960's American "Dimension" tea and coffee service set by John Prip. Manufactured by Reed & Barton. The bulged design pots have black rattan on the handles. All pieces are sealed on the bottom and show series from 1500 to 1504: tea pot, coffee pot, sugar bowl with cover, creamer and waste bowl.
Coffee pot: 21 x 24.5 x 15 cm.
Tea pot: 16.5 x 26 x 16.5 cm.
Creamer: 10.5 x 12 x 9 cm.
Sugar bowl: 12 x 11.5 cm Ø
Waste bowl: 4.5 x 11.5 cm Ø
The son of a Danish father and an American mother, John Axel Prip (1922 - 2009) was born in New York and lived in Denmark where his father ran a silversmith factory owned by his family. He was an apprentice of Evald Nielsen and got a diploma from the Copenhagen Technical School. Back in the United States, he made a living as a teacher in different institutions. His work for Reed and Barton remains popular among collectors.
