About the Item

A large French gilt bronze bracket clock – symbolizing the triumphant song of the Louis XIV You will discover the full Baroque style of the reign of King Louis XIV through this large French Gilt bronze ebony marquetry bracket clock. The inner core of the clock is ebony. The outside of the clock is inlaid with extremely delicate and skillful gilt bronze in the motifs. Ormolu combined with ebony will make the clock shine in the middle of the room. This cartel clock makes a strong visual impression because the two colors of gold and black blend together to enhance the typical beauty of the luxurious Boulle style. These are also prominent colors that are often loved by Boulle – the master of marquetry. If you want to own a bracket clock inspired by the symmetrical style of the Louis XIV period, don't miss this sophisticated product. Atop the clock is an image of Pheme - a messenger sent by Zeus with free wings and a trumpet. Pheme is an image that symbolizes fame. The bottom of the clock shows the meticulousness in the creative thinking of the artisan by arranging the floral motifs smartly. Through the technique of marquetry as well as thanks to the skillful hands and creativity of artisan Noel Mornanh Paris, this wall clock brings unexpected majesty and regalness. An antique clock is bordered around the front face with a flower and acanthus leaf motif. The four lower corners of the clock depict the natural beauty of a woman. In the center of the clock, the image of a woman wearing a laurel wreath represents victory and glory. At the top is a sitting man representing the throne to rule the country. The inside of the clock dial is printed with very unique Roman numerals. In addition, its movement has also been overhauled to both function well and bring out the unique aesthetic and lavish beauty of this antique French cartel clock. This wooden cabinet is designed in the Boulle style. This style was very popular around the time of Napoleon III. The characteristic of this style is the use of small pieces of wood in furniture, inlaid designs with many different materials: precious wood, precious stones, enamel, ivory, seashells, metal, marble etc. In addition, to express the royal style, the "Boulle" style also uses a large amount of gilded copper on the furniture, such as tiger claw decoration, mirror border decoration, leaf decoration, etc. The main elementsof this cabinet is ebony and turtle shell, with decorative details and gilded legs. This is a pretty prominent highlight in the overall black and gold color scheme. Moreover, the head of a woman is in the middle of the cabinet with waves in her hair and grape vines could be representing the Greek goddes of spring Spring. Surrounding the head are beautiful acanthus motifs incorporated in every layer and surface of the cabinet. Symmetricallly on the left and right side of the head are two identical faces, with one being the lock of the cabinet where key goes. The four corners of the cabinet have blooming carnations to create a feeling of spring coming. The details are collaged, decorated with golden bronze leaves in a classic French style. On the edges of the cabinet are sculptures of two women wrapped around with cloth and leaves. Through it, the author highlights the beauty of the woman's status in the past.
