Large 20th C. Americana Folk Art Carousel with Painted Farm Animals

About the Item

20th c., Large Folk Art carousel with animals on a rotating base.Made of wood and canvas construction, with leather and other accent materials unsigned. The animals depicted are a horse, goat, pig, cow, sheep and rooster. Each animal is colorfully painted and has wonderful details; the pig has a curly tail, the cow has udders, the sheep has a cute face, and the horse has a mane and tail made of coir. The carousel itself is patriotically painted in red white and blue with stars and stripes. The fluttering flags are made of painted canvas on metal flagpoles. You can not help but smile when you see this charming and whimsical carousel. Dimensions: Approx. 24"h x 19"dia Condition: Good, some craquelure to paint, door at center loose (only held in place by one peg) and one ear missing from the horse, pig and sheep.

Late 20th c., a pair of vibrantly painted wooden flamingo floor sculptures, each with a fish in mouth. One is signed "MW" on the underside. Painted in pink and lilac respectively and both with painted details to resemble feathers. Each flamingo is holding a fish in its beak. Both fish have been painted in contrasting colors to those of the flamingos. The gold painted beaks and legs add an additional element of whimsy to these carved sculptures. They are life size and will be sure to draw attention and likely a smile.
