About the Item

Native American pipe bag. Original catlinite pipe bowl and stem. Comes in a buffalo hide pouch. Pipe bag and attached early Canadian silver trade brooch and elk ivories. Circa 1780-1820. 13" overall closed x 3". Attached to the brain tanned thong is an antler pipe tamper with six "X" marks and three divots on each side. Pipe heavily smoked. Bottom with copper cones and red horsehair. Assumed it belonged to a voyager. An excellent piece of history with great patina.
