Sitting Bull Signed Native American Indian Cabinet-Card Portrait Photograph

About the Item

A very desirable and quite rare signed photograph/cabinet-card portrait of renowned Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux holy man Chief Sitting Bull (circa 1831-1890) - perhaps the most famed and recognizable Native American Indian chief who was known for his steadfast opposition to the intrusion of the US government into Sioux lands. Following the Battle of Little Big Horn, Sitting Bull eventually fled to Canada but he later returned to the United States. This piece may have been created for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West traveling Western show which engaged Sitting Bull for one year only (apparently Sitting Bull performed only four months in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West before returning to the Standing Rock Agency in North Dakota). The photograph is boldly signed on the verso edge in ink, "Sitting Bull" and is encased in a protective acrylic display with the publisher's information printed on the verso. Sitting Bull's autograph is incredibly rare and massively sought-after in any form. This photo would be a great addition to any Native American Indian artifacts or photography collection.
