Striking Huichol Yarn Painting Signed By Artist Gabriel Bautista

About the Item

A small Huichol Yarn Painting on wood board with striking Color and vivid imagery by Artist Gabriel Bautista. The colors range from deep pinks, cobalt, red, yellow, orange and green to deeper blacks, and browns. The imagery is of a central floating god like triangular face peering down onto a wild and electric landscape which contains a standing figure with outstretched arms and foliate symbolic plants. There is a long inscription on the back in pen and also containing the Artist’s signature. This listing also includes a copy of American Indian Art issue Volume 26 Number 3 Summer 2001 which contains an extensive annd profusely illustrated article by Hope Maclean on the origins, meaning and techniques of Huichol art and artists. The Huichol Yarn Painting measures 7.75” wide by 7.75” high by .15” deep. Condition: The overall condition is very good with some age-related slight yarn loss to the top of the painting mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is both powerful and full of color.
