Two Antique Inuit/ Eskimo Anthropomorphic Tool Handles

About the Item

Two 19th Century or possibly earlier Inuit Tool Handles, one of carved wood and the other of carved bone. The bone handle bears the unmistakable form of an upturned Seal’s head, a favored animal of the Inuit. The wood handle is long and fits comfortably in the hand with a time-softened patina. The Wood Handle measures 8.5” long by 1.75” wide by 1.5” deep and the Bone Handle measures 5” wide by .5” deep by 2.75” high. Condition: Both handles exhibit breakage, nicks and losses borne in antiquity including stable age splitting to the Wood Handle which does not detract from the fine organic and ancient presentation.
