About the Item

This is a hand carved Folk Art Assemblage including a man, wagon, and wood pieces all mounted on a mechanized wagon. The man on wood wagon is 12 1/2" by 6" by 7 1/4". Base 9 1/4" by 18 7/8"This assemblage came from an extraordinary collection of hand carved, jointed and movable figures which at one time made up a motorized logging scene. The mechanism is no longer, but the figures remain. It was done Circa 1910. This figure came from a grouping which included individual people, all with very distinct looks. Like this carving, all the people were hand carved and painted. Some of the heads turn, and one has a lower jaw which opens and closes. All the clothing is original, and includes leather boots, hand knit hats and scarves, shirts, coats, and pants. Most of the arms and legs were made out of copper tubing which was then flattened and formed with great detail, including fingers. The bodies and heads are wood. An example of the construction can be seen on the man who has no clothing. Each piece from this very folky grouping is now mounted on individual two tiered bases. ----------------- OTHER TERMS: CONDITION NOTES: Antiques have wear that reflects their years of use and is to be expected and is sometimes the proof that an item is an antique.
