Massimo Giacon Ceramic Art ‘Conigliesco’ for Superego Set/2

About the Item

The anti-pop ceramics of Massimo Giacon belong to the family of Superego Editions “The Pop will eat himself“. Their names sound like the words of the comic streeps: ‘Dodo’, ‘Conigliesco’ (coniglio-rabbit) + teschio-skull)’, ‘In bocca al lupo/ Good luck’, ‘End of the story’ and their colors come directly from the world of toys. But, as Giacon says, “Just as objects, they might lose a little of their anguish in the hope to find someone who will love them for what they are, despite what they are” Beautiful set of two “Conigliesco” ceramic sculptures, in very good condition plus 1 has been handsigned by Gaicon.

  • Marcel Warmenhoven Artwork, Portret III, Metal Sculpture
    Located in Amstelveen, Noord
Marcel Warmenhoven (1954) has limited himself in his work to a single technique of expression, the images made from waste wood, preferably from discarded furniture, have a new place in the total. His first wooden sculptures originated around 1980 in Maastricht at the Jan van Eyck Academy. They testify to skillful speed and inventiveness. Chair legs that act like the legs of an animal. The tail, a paintbrush. Light-footedness predominates. In his later work he reveals himself more and more as a skilled craftsman. Shapes become more to the appearance but not he the given material to his will. At the end of the eighties and in the early years, Warmenhoven made a series of very large sculptures. A tiger of 4.5 meters long, for example. He already masters his material so viros that the curved shapes of wooden furniture parts and utensils enable him to “draw” with it. Outwardly, the images are reminiscent of ligaments or anatomical muscle models used in medical science...

Elegant and sophisticated pair of oak handmade armchairs by Pander & Sons in the Hague in 1915. This set of two identical armchairs is brandmarked (which was also special in the early 1900s) and has new singles under the chair. Therefore the set is in good condition! Specially when you notice the chairs to be over 100years of age. Pander made both furniture and airplanes. At first this may seem a strange combination, but in the early days of aviation, airplanes were also made of wood. Klaas Pander (1819-1897) sold rush mats...
