Wood and Leather Skeleton Puppet from Odd Fellows Lodge

About

Carved and joined wooden puppet with curved leather for rib cage. This skeleton would be able to be animated or dance with attachment to various points. I was reported to have been used in an Odd Fellows Fraternal Lodge where skeletons were used as symbols to remind one of the shortness of life and the need to do good works. This tall piece is mounted over a metal base and has been in a private New York collection.
