Circa 1960s English pub sign for the "Lion & Lamb" painted by Stanley Chew. Featuring the iconic magnificent beast by a gentle white lamb. Wood. Artist Signed: Stanley Chew; Buckfastleigh (in Devon, West of Torquay). Chew, born 1918 Kingston, Jamaica, came to the UK in 1920; scholarship to the Royal College of Art 1936-38. Wear, paint losses commensurate with age, use & locale of the pub. 32" w., 38 1/8" h., 1.25" d.
