About the Item
Oversized Carved Boot Trade Sign, Early 20th Century An arresting cobbler’s sign hand-carved from solid wood and fashioned as a Victorian lace-up ankle boot with a sharp pointed toe and stacked heel, finished in distressed black paint with warm gilt undertones that peek through in the high spots. Fully three-dimensional, the boot retains a metal crossbar and swivel hanger, allowing it to swing outdoors above a shopfront or command attention indoors as sculptural décor. A classic example of the imaginative advertising objects used before neon and print, it speaks to both folk-art charm and fashion history. Dimensions: approx. 32 in. W × 36.5 in. H.
