About the Item

A rare papier Mache adverting point of sale for Clarks Shoes. Modelled on Glastonbury tor this early 20th century hand crafted papier Mache point of sale would have sat on a shoemakers / retail counter to advertise the well renowned Clarks Shoes. With hand painted detail this piece of iconic English advertising has stood the test of time. Size in inches: H 19 x W 11” x D 10” Origin: English Date: Early 20th Century Condition: Aged A naturally aged item that has been constructed from fragile card, pine and papier Mache. The form has seen some use as we have tried to show in the photos provided. Areas of concern include the top right section which have at some point been repairs and repainted. Some of surface paint has been faded, chipped or fallen away. The base is dented in areas as shown, The underneath is pine supported which is still in place however the Tor is a little what sunken in place due to age and obvious use. The pine has got a few screws into to support the form. In overall presentable condition. There is a hanging hook attached to this item at the back, however we DO NOT provide a chain for this item as it can be hung straight onto a wall with its current fitting.
