About the Item

Early 20th century mechanical toy from Kobe, Japan. This small mechanical toy was made in Kobe, Japan. This is the classic doll of a man chopping and eating a slice of watermelon, with the action controlled by a turning knob on the left side, which in one photo has a little putty to hold it in the position - it has been removed. When at rest, his head hangs down, with mouth closed and left arm on the table. His left eyeball is missing the bead, which adds to his slightly crazed demeanor.
