Original 1873 Bush Kaleidoscope
About the Item
This is an original untouched Charles G. Bush Kaleidoscope. This example would be most interesting for the seasoned collector. It's signed and dated on the brass ring and sits on the on the more desirable and sought after 4 leg base. This is the most sought after style and is considered the quintessential Bush scope. Bush was the first American patented kaleidoscope and the most important manufacturer of kaleidoscopes in it’s time. This example is from 1873. There is a wonderful collection of glass objects in this one. The major part of any Bush scope is its glass. They were famous for making and even patented the beautiful hand made lace, twisted rods, and liquid filled vials of multi colored glass. This example has 7 of those vials, each one a different color. Very few of these delicate optical toys ever survived and fewer in this condition. The wood, frosted glass, brass and paper covered finishes are all-original and show a patina that can not be duplicated in any restoration. As good as the photo is the original shows even better. Those wonderful finishes you see on the wood and paper covered cardboard are the real thing. All original brass ships wheel pins are there and straight. But most important is the presence of the original rear lens disc and cap. These are pieces that were removable and are often lost. This is just the way I like to find them.

View AllLarge 1930s Ford Tin Goose Tri-Motor Airplane Model
Located in Peekskill, NY
This is a large delicate tin model made around the same time the real Tin Goose was flying. The wingspan is an impressive 40 inches. The wheels are rubber and the 4 part windshield is glass. I'm surprised the model survived in such nice and complete condition for about 90 years. We had a custom display stand made for it that brings it to another level.
Between 1926 and 1933 some 200 Trimotors were built in Ford's own factory. Corrugated metal on great thick monoplane wings was a German development, used in Junker JU-52 planes that were flying the Berlin-Rome-London route. Trimotors were flown by airlines, oil companies and wealthy individuals. The Ford Trimotor...

Mechanical Bank Speaking Dog By The Shepard Co Ca 1885; with Original Wooden Box
By Shepard Hardware Company
Located in Incline Village, NV
Manufactured in 1884 by the Shepard Hardware Company in Buffalo, New York, this cast iron mechanical bank measures 7 1/8" long and is in excellent all original condition and paint, especially considering that the Shepard Company did not use a primer rendering their surface more vulnerable than say, the Steven's Company. There is no touch up or repaint, and no restoration of any kind. Colors of bright red on the dress, flesh tones, tan colored dog, and maroon base are all very bright and crisp. The bank is accompanied by the original wooden box in which it was originally shipped; a very special find and charming piece of Americana. Rare to find the original box. The bank and box came directly from an estate and the original owner, and I have owned it since then for over 35 years. The theme of the bank depicts a young Victorian girl playing with her golden retriever. It is one of only four antique mechanical banks...
