Early 20th Century Figurative Sculpture of a Mother with Children

About the Item

This finely carved early twentieth-century figure, from the Yoruba culture in Nigeria, depicts a mother and her two children. The mother is depicted in a kneeling position, holding a two-legged offering bowl. Crowning her head is a three-pronged coiffure, which bears traces of Reckitt's Blue.
