About the Item

Early standing Mumuye stylized figure with crested hair and open work details. Classic rounded cubist forms that the Mumuye sculptors are known for. Northern Nigeria, West Africa. ex- CA collection, acquired in 2005 from Joris Visser, Brussels. Previously in the collection of Christoph Evers, Belgium, Published: "Art of the Upper Benue River", Christoph Evers. 19 1/4" inches high, on custom wood stand. Created mid 20th century or earlier.
