About the Item
This is a beautiful pair of Ceremonial Baskets from the Tutsi people of Rwanda in East Africa.
These baskets are handwoven and given as Wedding gifts with a trinket inside each basket . These are treasured family possessions and are handed down through the generations. The geometric pattern is unique to each basket. The Tutsi are renowned weavers.
These pieces would date from the mid 20th century probably earlier and in fine condition .
The larger piece measures 37 cm tall x 14cm in diameter.
The slightly smaller piece measures 29cm in height x 12cm in diameter.
