1960s Murano "Pulegoso" glass and aluminum Space Age one-light pendant lamp

About the Item

Murano glass Space Age 1960s one-light pendant lamp. Hand-blown Murano glass, white lacquered aluminum and chrome. The glass shade, with its unique shape, diffuses a pleasant luminosity that highlights the exquisite 'Pulegoso' workmanship of the glass. This particular type of glass, called 'Pulegoso' in Murano glassworks, is characterised by countless tiny, irregular air bubbles (in Venetian = 'pulighe' ) that form inside the glass mass, deliberately limiting its transparency. This is achieved, with a technique that was widely used in the 1920s, by adding substances such as gasoline for example, in order to produce a boiling on the molten glass. The frame is made of white lacquered aluminum with a chrome-plated detail at the base. The chandelier is fixed to the ceiling with a steel cable, which can be easily shortened on request. Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp is in good Vintage condition compatible with age and use, lampshade intact. The structure shows very minimal traces of use. The wiring and the hanging steel wire have been replaced, the E27 (US E 26 compatible). Works 110-240 volts.
