Antique Industrial French Holophane Devant Ceiling Pendant Street Light Lamp
About the Item
- A wonderful and rare vintage French streetlight ceiling pendant by Holophane Devant, France circa 1920.
- The ceiling pendant is made from cast iron, copper and Holophane glass, incredible wear and verdigris to the copper body which also displays its original makers mark 'Devant Holophane'.
- The central section also opens up so you can gain access to the light fitting, this antique pendant is a beautiful piece of French history.
- Height 45cm, Width 25cm, Depth 25cm.
- Rewired in black braided flex and PAT tested.
Holophane Originally founded in 1893 the hallmark of Holophane luminaires was the borosilicate glass reflector, which acted as a prism providing a combination of uplight and downlight, to illuminate any environment evenly without creating dark spots or glare. As a result Holophane lights were frequently used in churches, as street-lights and to illuminate older factories and industrial spaces.
