About the Item

This large and all hand-crafted Art Deco pendant is unlike anything you ever saw. With early 20th century light fixtures in general and with alabaster light fixtures in particular being one of our specialities, over the years, we have sold some truly remarkable ones. However, when we very recently were offered the chance to purchase this incredible piece of artisanship, we too were looking at something we had never seen before. Some years ago we sold one similar light, but the design of and the mosaic-like patterns in this particular alabaster shade could very well be the most amazing we will ever see. This stunning, antique and three-light chandelier is all-handcrafted and just like, for example, original Tiffany light fixtures all the individual alabaster elements/pieces are perfectly grouped / fixated together. In this case on the inside of the bowl and with a paste or cement-like substance that is still as mint and hard as it was when it was first applied 100 years ago. The workmanship is truly exceptional, also, the way in which the artisan managed to get this amazing tight fit and how he (or they) managed to polish both the alabaster elements AND the paste-like substance on the outside. Apart from a few truly minor imperfections, this unique light could not be in better condition. Should there ever be a museum for antique lights and future owners take as good care of this light as former owners have then, we believe, this pendant should be on display there too. This antique, mosaic-style alabaster pendant truly is one of the best and most artistic fixtures you (or we) will ever come across and they sure don't make 'em like this anymore. The workmanship is amazing, but the large size and the deep bowl design really take this unique fixture to the next level. Both with the light switched on and off, you could not wish for a more special and impressive pendant. Because of its rarity, beauty, condition and the unique workmanship this work-of-art-light-fixture also is a real talking piece. Unfortunately it cannot be captured in photos, but especially with the light switched on in the evenings, the multiple colors and patterns in this pendant are simply magical. This is the perfect chandelier for an entry hall, a 'conversation or relaxation room' or for a master bedroom. The antique brass chain and the large and height adjustable antique brass canopy are like the icing on the cake of this pendant. Mind you, it will arrive rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and you will be able to use three of your regular American E26 screwthread bulbs. Thanks to the hook inside the large and height adjustable brass canopy, safely mounting this pendant tight to your ceiling (and over your junction box) should take no more than minutes either.
