Art Deco Drop Shaped Pendant Light in Opal Glass and Nickel, Netherlands, 1930s

About the Item

This rare pendant light was in The Netherlands in the 1960s. The Art Deco style of this design was introduced and distributed through various small-scale manufacturers from the 1930s onwards, with the most well known name being Gispen. The striking shade is in a downwards muli-tiered drop shape. The shade is made of a slightly glossy, white opaline glass which offers a pleasant light distribution when the light is switched on. The shade is attached to the fixture in glossy nickel with a natural patina. The central tube with a two-tier canopy and a two-tier pendant holder. The lamp is in good original condition. If another height is preferred, the central stem can be shortened or replaced entirely, making a higher version possible.
