Emile Colin, a renowned founder established since 1843 at 29, rue de Sévigné in Paris, began publishing works by the greatest masters of French sculpture as early as 1855, such as A.E. Carrier-Belleuse (The Zouave), J. Pradier (The Three Graces, Venus Consoling Love), or J.B. Carpeaux from 1875 onwards (The Child with the Horn), along with the Parisian silversmith Christofle. He stamped his bronzes with the inscription "E. Colin & Cie" from 1882 to 1898. The mark evolved to "M. Colin & Cie" from 1898 to 1906, then to "Ancienne Maison Colin, Jollet & Cie" from 1906 to 1923. Enjoying international reputation, Emile Colin sent bronze works, including marble-mounted vases and a large bronze clock, to the Universal Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. By the end of the 19th century, the Colin house ranked among the greatest bronze founders alongside Barbedienne, Susse, and Siot-Decauville. Upon Emile Colin's death in 1900, his old models were sold to the Doistal house, on Avenue Daumesnil in Paris, a company that has since disappeared. The Colin house was once again honored at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900, notably with stylish lighting fixtures designed by Léon Messagé.

Hauchecome was the brother of the French consul in Imperial China, Armand Hauchecorne. At the turn of the century, he was a professor at Peking University. In the literature, he is also mentioned as the managing director of the consulate in Chongqing, as an interpreter in Beijing (1911) or as a "diplomat" in France (1940), who had "spent a large part of his working life in China".
Hauchecome produced numerous sculptures with Chinese motifs in terracotta and bronze, some with a humorous undertone. He exhibited his works at the Exposition nationale coloniale de Marseille in 1922 and at several salons of the Société nationale des beaux-arts in the 1920s.
Some of Hauchecome's bronzes were crafted by the Parisian sculpture...

Léon Auguste Hugue (Paris, 1878 – Clichy-la-Garenne, 1970) began his career as a bronze fitter. In 1907, he established his own lighting bronze manufacturing business at 14 rue Pierre Levée. In 1913, he created a new limited partnership, "L. Hugue, fabrique de bronzes et d’appareils d’éclairage," at number 10 on the same street. The business grew, and around 1925, he set up a factory at 68 rue des Rondeaux, where he worked with the help of his son Maurice Léon, also a bronze fitter (see images 13 and 16). At the 1927 French Exhibition in Madrid, he received the Gold Medal diploma alongside Francis Hubens. Strangely, in 1932, Léon Hugue...
