Early 20th Century Baroque Style Cristallo and Azure Murano Chandelier
About the Item
This handcrafted cristallo Murano chandelier has three scroll arms and features a bulbous center column with sprouting natural details, stylized here with leaves and acorn-shaped ornaments. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear, colorless Venetian glass adorned with intricate azure botanical motifs.
The glasshouses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier showcases a mastery of Venetian glass craftsmanship. This chandelier references the ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati — an 18th-century Murano glass master. The ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style is named for the Venetian palace, today a public museum dedicated to 18th century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides.
This chandelier evokes the splendor of the past centuries through delicate decorations, refined craftsmanship, and an elegant structure. The cristallo glass creates a warm atmosphere when illuminated and the vivid blue details offer a unique flair to any interior.
