About the Item
Just about the turn of the last century,, as electric lighting gained in popularity, makers of gas lighting devices added electric lines and sockets to their gas jets. When one didn't work, the other did. Gas up facing, electricity down facing.
This light is a grand example of those Victorian times. Although it has just been freshly converted to all electric, you can see the larger gas shades facing to the ceiling and the electric turn ket sockets facing down toward the floor. All electrical restotarion was done by a professional, using all UL certified parts. The body, and glass shades are truly old and in amazing condition. four sockets face up and for face down for th ideal amount of light in both directions. 60 Watts each.
Fixture original came from a house in San Francisco. Must have been a grand sight to see. It would be right at home in any Historic building or 5 star hotel.
