9 Arm Gilt Bronze Chandelier w/Lions, Gargoyles & Prometheus ca.1890
About the Item
This exceptional 9 arm gilt bronze chandelier is one of the finest I have offered in my over 40 years of selling antique lighting. The arms are composed of lions and gargoyles, and cast as finely as a bronze statue. The bottom displays Prometheus and the eagle. Prometheus stole fire from the gods and his punishment was to be chained to a rock with an eagle hovering over him. Beautifully cast as well. Each link of chain is a snake, another amazing feature. The chandelier is gilt bronze to add to the beauty. The 9 flame shades are frosted and are appropriate for this light.
