About the Item
A beautiful and rare ceiling lamp in full brass. Designed by Paavo Tynell and manufactured by Taito Oy in Finland in the 1950s. This is one of Tynells nicest and most recognizable models. The iconic design of this lamp immediately catches your eye. The soft outlines make the whole piece seem mellow, as it blends into the interior. The patinated brass works perfectly with the design and only gets better with age. Comes in great original condition.
Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York. Tynells ability to breathe life into his work has been almost unparalleled to this day.
