About the Item
Paavo Tynell designed a huge number of ceiling lamps and other light fixtures that gained enormous international fame especially in the USA. A lot of Tynell´s lamps were widely publicized by the media and they became gradually very popular and gained a steady clientelle. Paavo designed for both public buildings and private homes. The impeccable quality of his company´s (Taito) work became evident very fast. He used only highly skilled craftsmen in producing his light fixtures.
Although Tynell started to abandon the clean lines of fuctionalism as the 1950s approached, in this lamp we see his minimalistic touch still. We have seen a few versions of this model lamp, and in a few different sizes as well.
This lamp is in completely original condition except for the wiring that was changed to meet current standards and regulations.
All late 1940s early 1950s lamps became very popular, and deservingly so. The warm light filtering through the cold brass is just astonishingly beautiful. This lamp has beautiful vintage patina, that only comes with the passage of time.
