Pair Two Large Antique Diffused Opaline Milk Glass Ceiling Pendants Light Lamps
About the Item
- A beautiful and rare pair of diffused opaline ceiling pendants, English circa 1930.
- Large circular opaline glass shades each with their removable prismatic glass diffusers, original hooked galleries.
- There are a couple of minor nibbles around the edge of one of the glass shades which is obscured when the prismatic dish is in place.
- 36cm high from top of gallery to bottom of diffuser plate, 36cm wide, 36cm deep.
- Rewired with dark brown braided flex, PAT tested.
- Price is for the pair, stunning when lit and as seen in the photographs.
Opaline Glass is a form of decorative glassware which was made throughout the 19th century, manufacture was predominantly French, although it was inspired by Venetian Milk Glass, and White Glass produced in Bristol. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and various locations across in England were involved in their production. The opaline glass is characterised by a bright white colour, the high lead content defined it as crystal like, giving it jewel-like qualities across its appearance.
