About the Item

Poliedri ceiling chandelier designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1958 for Venini glassworks. Nickel-plated brass frame , transparent blown glass elements in shades of yellow, pink and blue, composed of 67 polyhedra, excellent condition, new electrical system, 9 light points. At the customer's request, it is possible to calibrate the 'height of the chain according to their assembly needs. A rare version with three different color shades. Polihedrons were first proposed as compositional elements of the large Venini chandelier, designed by Ignazio Gardella, Paolo Venini and Enrico Peresutti, presented at the 1958 Brussels Expo, placed in the central hall of the Italian Pavilion. The famous cascade chandelier proposed at the Turin Expo "Italia '61" by Venini with Carlo Scarpa was made with such a module. These blown glass elements make it possible to create lighting apparatuses of ever-changing shapes and sizes. Circular-shaped chandeliers and wall sconces composed of the Poliedri elements, made of blown glass/crystal and arranged on several levels. Carlo Scarpa made a name for himself in the post-World War II period through major installations, particularly in Venice: the Paul Klee exhibition for the XXIV Biennale, the 1950 Art Book Pavilion, and the Italian Pavilion at the XXVI Biennale. In 1932 he began working with VENINI, becoming its artistic director until 1946. A long period during which he left an indelible mark on the world of the Furnace, for the design of models that have gone down in history and for the search for the most refined techniques. For these and other historic Italian design furniture follow our SECOND YOUTH gallery, we offer custom research and restoration services. On-site assembly at customer's request.
