Quebec 18th Century Style Three-Tier Chandelier of Substantial Proportions

About the Item

This is a Classic form made in the style of the late 18th or early 19th century. The central shaft is turned, carved, gilt and applied with tole acanthus leaf decoration. The thirty arms are painted iron, with parcel-gilt balls. This is a much favored type particularly for period rooms in late 18th century Quebec style. Such a chandelier would have hung in a church, convent or substantial hall. For a similar but period example see the Burney Collection Auction October 5th 2019 lot 234.
